ABSTRACT
Recent innovations in CP-based coatings are based on the technology of “smart” or “intelligent” coatings, terms used lately to describe multifunctional coatings, which can provide more than one function to the metal substrate. In this sense CP-based coatings belong to smart coatings and constitute the cornerstone for the development of a new technology. In fact, most of these coating technologies are currently under development in academia and industry. In particular, scaling up of innovative CP-based coatings for possible industrial applications is still in its infancy.
