ABSTRACT
The Lean program is actually launched a good 6 months after Smith’s return from Oregon. During that period, Smith has personally seen how important interdepartmental cooperation is; initiating the necessary attitude shift is going to be one of the major challenges. Smith’s transfer to the Lean program also means Jonathan Foster’s appointment as head of the emergency room (ER).
