ABSTRACT

A collection of the principal tools available for the monitoring and fault diagnosis of vibration problems in rotating machinery is described in the earlier chapters of this book. Each investigation takes on its own characteristics, and there is no such thing as a standard investigation. There are nevertheless some standard approaches and, more importantly, disciplines to be adhered to. In this chapter, five differing studies are described in some details in order to convey an overview of the application of the techniques employed. Four of the studies report investigations successfully completed, whilst the fifth briefly describes an ongoing project related to a topic of concern in many countries at the present time.
