Starting off the next half of the Eight Root Causes, understand that one-piece flow examples do exist within our everyday world. Think of some chain pizza restaurants; remember the ovens with the large door and giant handle. Remember the long paddle the chefs would use to scoop the pizza out from the back of the oven. What do most of the chain restaurants use now? Next time you’re picking up your pizza at Pizza Hut restaurant, take notice of the “flow ovens” in use. Now, think about some of your own processes. Are you using a “onepiece flow conveyor oven,” or the “batch oven?” This brings us to our next root cause.
