Quality of life for the aged includes mental, physical, familial, social, and spiritual elements, all of which must be integrated. Assessment should consider nutrition, supplement and herb intake, medications (and their interactions), movement and exercise, social contacts, presence or absence of community, family conict, nancial resources, spirituality, cognitive impairment, functional independence, abilities to carry out activities of daily life, and issues of purpose and meaning.
