ABSTRACT
An alternative to the LIFEREG procedure is the NLMIXED procedure. The use of the latter is a little bit more complex because you have to “write” the likelihood. It is thus possible, to a little programming cost, to use parametric models taking into account cases a little bit more complex than those offered routinely by SAS. It is possible, for example, to estimate frailty models with random effects.
