ABSTRACT
The generations of these solitons are thus important, in the first instance, for such potential applications and are the main focus of this book. The nonlinear phase distortion compensates for the linear part in an optical resonant cavity. This chapter introduces the main conceptual understanding of these solitonic pulses, especially their formations by passive or active mode-locking in recirculating resonant fiber lasers.
