This chapter is dedicated to the late professor Lennart Eberson, who was not only one of our colleaguesbutalsoaclosefriend.LennartEbersonwasaworld-leadingphysical-organicchemistwho madeseminalcontributionstomanyareasofthesubject.Theseincludedpioneeringachievements intheapplicationandtheoryofhomogeneousandheterogeneouselectrontransferreactionsof organiccompounds.Hewasoneofasmallbandofscientistswhoshapedmodernorganicelectrochemistry and who also contributed to this book from the very beginning.
