The cost estimating and analysis community has a variety of models and methods for generating point estimates of a program’s cost from its work breakdown structure (WBS) elements. They include engineering build-up techniques,∗ cost estimation by analogy, and parametricmodels. This chapter focuses on parametric models and the use of statistical regression methods to develop them.
