ABSTRACT
The aim of this chapter is to illustrate the traditional and modern techniques used to deliver high concrete quality and discuss recent standards. Today, ready-mix concrete is popular in some countries, but other countries use on-site mixes. Based on a study by El-Reedy (2005), ready-mix concrete provides high quality, so it can be matched with less conservative design. Developed countries need more restricted codes to cover the uncertainty in concrete mix on site.
