ABSTRACT

A GEU principal investigator (PI) was awarded a National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant to evaluate clinical treatments that would minimize scarring from injuries. The project was a 5-year study that assessed methods for treating skin lacerations in the first phase of the study (i.e., the first 3 years) and treatments for burn injuries in the second phase (i.e., the last 2 years). The PI submitted a research proposal to the IACUC that evaluated only the first phase of his study. He decided that he would submit the second phase (i.e., burn studies) when he prepared his triennial submission.
