GEU IACUC administrators believe that they have a very robust training program. They have a very effective process for training new IACUC members to review protocols and oversee the organization’s animal care and use program (ACUP). Once an individual is appointed to the GEU IACUC, the IACUC administrator schedules individualized training with him or her. The IACUC administrator provides new appointees electronic copies of all the relevant documents, including the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (henceforth referred to as the Guide), Public Health Service (PHS) policy, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee Guidebook, and a copy of the Animal Welfare Act regulations (AWARs).
