ABSTRACT

Polyarylethersulfones are a family of aromatic amorphous thermoplastics that possess unique highperformance properties as engineering materials. As the name implies, the backbone repeat units of a polyarylethersulfone are primarily composed of aryl groups, aromatic ether linkages, and aromatic sulfone groups. A key structural feature of these polymers that distinguishes them from other aromatic polymers is the presence of the para-linked diarylsulfone grouping (Scheme 14.1) as part of the main backbone repeat unit.
