ABSTRACT

The striking similarities between simian immunodeciency virus (SIV)-induced disease in rhesus monkeys and human immunodeciency virus (HIV) infection in man make SIV-induced disease in rhesus monkeys a very important model for the study of AIDS (acquired immune deciency syndrome) in man. The present discussion is designed to specically address the impact that the simian immunodeciency virus infection has upon the erythropoiesis of Macaca mulatta.
