ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: This paper presents the deformation monitoring of a pedestrian bridge over the river Malý Dunaj in Bratislava – Vrakunˇa. Precise levelling is a conventional surveying method of vertical determinations. Because of the fact that the monitored object is a suspension bridge construction, the levelling is not feasible (the loading of the survey equipments may influence the results). The measurement of the structure was performed by the technology of terrestrial laser scanning (TLS). The advantage of TLS is that this method allows contactless determination of the spatial coordinates of points situated on the surface of the measured object. An application based on software MATLAB® – Displacement_TLS was developed for automated data processing. The designed method represents a new approach of deformation monitoring. The procedure of laser scanning, the data processing (calculation of displacements using orthogonal regression) and the results of deformation monitoring are described in this paper.
