ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Pavement construction materials as asphalt mixtures still need to be improved because of increasing traffic volumes. Present research is focused mostly on different kinds of chemical or natural additives which can improve their basic properties. However, there are also options how to make better asphalt mixtures without additives. The most important for asphalt mixtures is mainly the quality of components like aggregates, asphalt binders and fillers. The appropriate ratio of these components can result in an asphalt mixture of high quality without any chemical additives. As far as aggregates are concerned there is also option to use aggregates with different shapes of gradation curve which has also effect on the quality of asphalt mixture. This paper is focused on two different shapes of gradation curve for two different asphalt mixtures and their influence on the total quality of asphalt mixture. As comparison criteria basic asphalt mixture properties were chosen.
