ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The tests were carried out in the Department of Chemical and Fire Research at the Research Centre for Fire Protection – National Research Institute. The aim of the studies was to evaluate the effectiveness of an innovative formulation intended for the removal of contaminants and pollutants from road infrastructure in terms of reducing the negative impact of petroleum compounds on asphalt durability. Oil spilt on a road and after penetration into its layers can cause elution of the asphalt binder, decrease the strength properties of asphalt and consequently lead to premature destruction of the road pavement. The study investigates the physicochemical properties of the analysed formulation and their impact on the structure of road pavement exposed to petroleum substances.
