ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Field tests of foundation pile’s capacity by means of load tests constitute the fundamental method of verifying computations. Due to the necessity of controlling the displacement of many points on the head of the pile under load, as well as for the purpose of measuring the deformations of the anchor piles and of the loading system itself, it is indispensable to double the traditional measurements (using dial indicators) by means of geodetic measurements. In this way, the records of displacement by means of dial indicators might be supplemented, at the same time eliminating systematic errors brought about by the system of reference instability. This work presents the initial results of the geodetic techniques application in the field of innovative self-balanced static tests of pile axial capacity.
