ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we first describe the research background and significance of video cataloguing. While the definition of cataloguing in this book is mainly derived from broadcast program production and video resources management in the broadcast television domain, we introduce the related concepts of video structure parsing and basic semantic content extraction, as well as automatic cataloguing. Next, we review the research status and development of the structure analysis and basic semantic content extraction. Then we introduce the main content of this book specifically and separately. Finally, the organization of the book is presented.
