ABSTRACT
It is possible to divide the above-mentioned fi ve types of internal forces into two main groups-forces, acting in the plane of the elements, and forces that are perpendicular to the element’s plane. The fi rst group is called membrane forces (Nx, Ny and Nxy) and the second one, bending forces (Vx, Vy, Mx, My and Mxy).
