ABSTRACT

Often, companies seek to improve their products and processes after receiving a customer complaint. Product quality should not be the result of customer complaints; quality should be built into products and processes. The use of failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and control plans can help ensure that failed products don’t reach customers with the FMEA used for prevention, and the control plan used for detection so that even if a failure occurs, it will not reach the customer. Quality planning can help to ensure the smooth launch of a product or process, and this can be accomplished by the use of advanced quality planning process (APQP).
