ABSTRACT

While the concept of social networks has existed for several decades, it is only during the past decade with the advent of the World Wide Web that the concept of electronic social networks has emerged. Today, such electronic social networks are commonly used between several hundred millions of individuals on a daily basis. These social networks connect numerous communities so that they can communicate and share various personal and business-related information. We are conducting extensive research on analyzing and securing such social networks. This chapter provides a survey of social networks and then discusses a selection of social networks that we are using to conduct our experiments.
