Introduction

This chapter gives a detailed introduction into the basic concepts of vapor-to-liquid phase transformations, such as physical clusters as the nuclei of the new phase, the formation of such clusters in gases, the kinetics of cluster formations in dense gases and on solid surfaces, the interaction of gases with solid surfaces, and, finally, molecular dynamics (MD), a powerful computer simulation method that is the main method of studying the thermodynamics and kinetics of cluster formations.
