ABSTRACT
Recall from Chapter 1 that a right-censored failure time means that the product that is being tested has not failed by that time. For example, if a product has not failed in, say, 100 hours, and if the test duration has ended, the failure time is recorded as 100 hours (right-censored). This product has not failed in 100 hours, but is expected to fail anytime later. Recall also that an exact failure time means that the product has failed exactly at that time. For example, if a product has failed exactly at the end of, say, 50 hours, the failure time is recorded as 50 hours (exact).
