ABSTRACT

In Chapter 7, you applied the first three steps to your practice jobs, an exercise designed to provide a clear understanding of the purpose of the Job Methods (JM) improvement plan. That purpose is to help you produce greater quantities of quality products in less time by making the best use of the manpower, machines, and materials now available. The focus of this chapter is step 3, item 6 (write up the new proposed method) and step 4 (apply the new method). To help team members write and use the improvement proposal, the chapter includes an example from one of our JM classes. Figure 8.1 provides a quick, high-level overview of the JM four-step method that will help you develop the written proposal.
