ABSTRACT

Progress in the synthesis of high-quality monolayer graphene has taken a giant leap forward with the introduction of copper as the growth catalyst. This progress has also drawn interest from the industry because of its promise to yield large-area graphene at low cost. In this chapter, we provide a detailed description of the chemical vapor deposition of graphene on copper, the fundamental mechanisms that govern it, the effects of the growth conditions on the morphology, and the electrical properties. We also present graphene transfer methods and cleanliness of the transfer processes. The chapter concludes with a review of the prospects on the scaling-up schemes for the industrial production of graphene.
