ABSTRACT
Human physiology still holds more mysteries that are beginning to be studied, such as the placebo eect. A placebo eect in medicine can be dened as a substance or a procedure that is administered to a person or animal that elicits an eect but does not have any specic pharmacological activity for the condition being treated. As we learn more about the placebo eect, we are coming to realize that it is important for traditional clinical medicine, integrative medicine, and personalized medicine, due to its wide-ranging eects in these areas of medical treatment and the large percentage of people who respond positively to it.
