ABSTRACT
With a constantly increasing requirement for shrimp products, accompanied by an ever-advancing technology, penaeid culture has progressed from extensive subsistence farming to a major industry, with a worldwide production of over 4 million tons annually, valued at approximately US$19 billion in 2012.1 The importance of shrimp disease has increased proportionally along with the growth of this new industry.
