ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we present five different cases of young people who were referred to the court on petitions.
• Dismiss the petition and send the child home. • Declare the child a delinquent and schedule a dis-
positional hearing. • Waive the juvenile to the adult criminal system (if
the prosecutor has requested a waiver). • Carry the hearing over to a future date or adjourn
for more evidence gathering before continuing.
