The disposition hearing As you learned in the previous chapter, if the child denies the charges in the petition, then either the case may proceed directly to an adjudication hearing or it may be scheduled for a future date. This may be necessary to arrange for witnesses or for the gathering of evidence by the attorney representing the child or by the prosecuting attorney.
