Scope of the juvenile justice system

First and foremost, the juvenile court can take jurisdiction over juveniles. Second, it has jurisdiction over juvenile offenders. And third, it can impose sanctions on parents of juveniles who are offenders as well as over those parents who have been found to be neglectful, abusive, or who have failed to properly care for their children in many other ways.
