ABSTRACT

The whole world was watching via the official YouTube channel online, and people read and wrote comments, sent video messages to the couple, and did plenty of others things that made the world part of the event. There is no time for research on what is efficient and why, and why people react or do not react to specific messages, images, and incentives. Social media is a two-way asymmetric model, which means that there is a source of information and people who react to that information liking, commenting, sharing. Findings from the “Social Media & Events Report 2011” imply that Facebook and Twitter are the most important social media platforms for event organizers. The basic truth about social networks is that, as they are a form of engagement, business professionals need to be part of the network before spreading the news about their event.
