ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the relatively brief but fascinating traditions and history of technology and will look forward to the future trajectory current and still undeveloped discoveries that may chart the twenty-first century meetings and events industry. The technological developments by the entertainment industry continue to lead the way through film, television, and Internet. While the US military may have been the birth mothers and fathers in the development and use of complex computer systems, global business, including meetings and events, became the experienced parents who would set the standards for future productivity through an increased reliance upon technology. The meetings and events industry was also realizing the need for standardization of processes due to the rapid developments in technology. The Braehler company once again demonstrated its market leadership through the creation and launch of the first wireless conference system that eliminated the need for even a single line as they established in 1961.
