ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to provide the reader with practical knowledge about electrical methods of measuring organic thin-film transistor (OTFT) devices. It presents a series of recipes that allow the experimentalist to gain insight into the performance and limitations of the devices and circuits being measured. It also gives guidelines on how to correctly interpret the measurements and to provide feedback to the manufacturing process. Organic-based transistors are particularly suited for sensing and biomedical applications. The operation of these devices is presented, with particular emphasis on the electrical techniques to address them when operating in complex liquid environments.
