ABSTRACT
Hydraulic binders are powdered substances that result in a firm solid upon reacting with water which then remains stable in aqueous environments. Although there are different varieties of inorganic hydraulic binders such as calcium sulphoaluminate, calcium aluminate, phosphate, portland and blended (or composite) cements, this chapter deals with the hydration of portland and blended cements.
