ABSTRACT

Concrete mix proportioning, which is also referred to as concrete mix design, is a process that consists of two basic parts that are interrelated with each other: (1) selection of suitable concrete ingredients namely, cement, aggregates, water, mineral and chemical admixtures and (2) determining their relative proportions with due care to maintaining a balance among (a) economy, (b) workability, (c) strength, (d) durability, (e) density and (f) appearance of the resulting concrete.
