ABSTRACT

All of the electronically stored information (ESI) is most often managed and maintained by those wonderful folks in the information technology field of endeavor. This chapter considers their role and perspective and discovers the secrets to working with and for them to ensure the best possible outcomes when dealing with ESI. From the perspective of information technologists, there are specific problems and tasks that they have to accomplish every day, and the knowledge and language that they and their peers bring to each of those tasks can be very specialized. This is absolutely necessary and appropriate in order for them to communicate and work effectively. The chapter explores how one goes about learning to translate geek, or where one finds these folks who might be organization’s all-important translators, and considers things one can do to create these important liaisons within the organization.
