ABSTRACT
AFTER LUNCH THE RESIDENTS of Beechnut House returned to their own or the day room for a nap. The staff shifted into an idling second gear of vigilance as they ate their own lunches, slightly larger portions of the gravy and custard-clad two course meal they had just served.
