ABSTRACT
This chapter presents a new project plan in pmBLOX and describes a task with resources defining a project plan. It discusses tasks and resources applying Dynamic Progress Method (DPM) principles and aims to understand the differences between critical path method (CPM) - and DPM-based planning methods. The DPM uses the cost information to perform its earned value calculations and establish any potential cost or schedule pressures as a function of cost. Productivity is just one of the key influencers on overall project outcome when using the DPM method—dynamically changing productivity rates in response to real environmental conditions results in a more realistic evaluation of project plans. The productivity rates can be set for three levels of task complexity: low, medium, and high, and they can be set for any day of the week. Project management tools based on the CPM have no way to account for the variations of resource productivity.
