ABSTRACT

The considered herein two-chord members found wide application in the building industry, among others, as individual traction columns in tram net (Gosowski & Lorkowski 2012) or poles of railway traction of network gate (see Figure 1 on the right) (Gosowski 2001). These columns are constructed from two channel chords connected by lacing made of flat bars or angles. Usually in similar way the columns of a industrial buildings are designed (see Figure 1 on the left) (Biegus 2009, Krzyśpiak 1976, Kucharczuk & Labocha 2012). In the buildings equipped by overhead cranes, the upper part of the stepped columns is made of a double-tee members, whereas the lower part is constructed from channels, double-tee or hollow profiles, laced by angles inclined of 45°.
