ABSTRACT

Screening is a critical part of any hiring process that selects personnel to work in a facility. Hire a thief and the facility security has already been compromised to a point where no security system can be effective because the insider eventually knows where everything is and how it works. Facilities managers often have mixed results in regard to hiring both full-time and part-time workers and technicians. Hiring quality facilities management technicians and workers can be a successful venture if enough time is devoted to the process and quality policies are used. Facilities managers should be viewing the screening and hiring process as an opportunity to find a dynamic new member of the team who will contribute in a meaningful way for years to come. Uniformed security guards are seen all over the Western world in cities and towns and are given responsibilities that often do not match their often light-screening and low-compensation rates.
