ABSTRACT
If a patient misses an appointment it may be appropriate to write to the person, but before doing so it is important to:
• establish that the patient did not cancel the appointment - patients are really annoyed if wrongly accused of failing to attend
• decide whether it is better to forget it or mention it at a future appointment.
