ABSTRACT

GPs keep records for their own access to assist them in planning and treating patients and to remind them of treatment previously provided. Less than 35 years ago patients were normally prohibited access to their records. However, successive Acts of Parliament have given patients full access and the practice should understand what the Acts are and how they should comply.
