ABSTRACT

The Phoenix continually reinvents itself when it senses that change is needed. Effective leaders also need to reinvent themselves and their thought processes to meet the demands of the changing environment. This chapter talks about personal understanding of self, what makes us who we are and why is it important. Values are derived from our belief systems. They shape our desires, behaviors, and aspirations that direct what we want to do with our lives. Values are not right or wrong they are simply a part of who we are. All of us possess particular value systems that are uniquely different from each other and those values can change over time. Values need to be aligned with our behaviors in order for us to feel good about ourselves and be successful. There are several leadership publications that address the concept of value alignment as a critical success factor in all we do in our jobs, careers, and personal goals.
