ABSTRACT

The stochastic species hypothesis and its variants form the centerpiece of this chapter. Central to the hypothesis is the notion of innate probabilities that cannot be observed or measured directly. The same notion is central to the theory of evolution (probability of survival), so it is not a new kind of concept.
