ABSTRACT
India has always fascinated the United States and Europe. In its earlier years, it was a country of snake charmers, but more recently, India’s software programmers have forced the world to take notice. The clinical research industry is a part of this technology-oriented vision for India. Compared with the United States, the clinical research industry is small but is rapidly growing. India’s patent laws are closely aligned with U.S. laws and the clinical research procedures in India are being standardized to global norms. As a result, most major global clinical research organizations have an office in India, and India is fast becoming a favored destination for many international pharmaceutical firms.
