ABSTRACT
Shallow foundations are constructed when the relationship between ground capacity and the magnitude of superstructure loads is favorable. These foundations, when used to support buildings or transportation infrastructure, are constructed by first excavating the soil, next positioning the steel reinforcement, and then pouring the concrete. This chapter discusses the ways to control the quality of construction of shallow foundations.
