ABSTRACT
Fish production in standing water is normally measured in fish weight per unit of surface area per year. The world’s oceans produce approximately 2 kg/Ha year, while inland lakes typically produce 10–400 kg/Ha year. Fish ponds and artificial lakes that are managed to increase fish production over what would naturally occur may produce anywhere from 100 to 4000 kg/Ha year depending upon the intensity of management inputs.
