ABSTRACT

Most film is entertainment and entertainment is in the first place a product, which costs money and needs to make money back. And animation is unfortunately not the exception— quite the contrary, it is extremely expensive. In its most positive outcome, animation can also turn into a piece that not only entertains but also expresses a sophisticated opinion or message. Film is an art form and thus has in its developed form something to say, a moral, a message, or a thought. The theme is what the story is about, its topic, a recurring idea, whereas the message is what that topic expresses and means on a personal case study, what conclusion the audience can draw from the piece. The message or moral is at the end of the fairy tale and wraps up with what the listener has learned from the story; the theme, on the contrary, is continuous throughout the story being pointed at again.
