ABSTRACT

Depth in an image can be controlled by various aspects to create or avoid it. Depth is a part of a style and can be equally played with in the two- and three-dimensional space. Where depth defines the distance from the closest to the farthest object, depth of field defines the area between the objects that are visually sharp. Depth of field and with it the blurriness of the objects or surroundings are a strong indicator of depth, one that immediately makes the eye recognize foreground, middle ground and background. Depth of field puts significance on areas within the frame and the camera chooses what is important and what is not. Perspective is another indicator of depth and one that is very accurate in terms of the distances between objects within the frame as long as the constructed perspective is not sporadic but its grid includes all elements in the frame.
